Regarding the launch of the RO-RO shipping line in the northern ports of the country, Khosrow Saraee stated that business people in our country are constantly trading with the Caspian littoral states and other target countries on route. we need be able to utilize different modes of transportation at competitive costs. And relying on one mode of transportation may lead to trade instability.
Saraee added: in order to pave the way for the merchants and business people, The Ports and Maritime Organization succeeded in establishing truck-to-ship Ro-Ro shipping services between the northern ports of Iran and the Caspian littoral states, especially Russia and Kazakhstan. To reduce port costs, these types of ships will be granted an 80% incentive.
Saraee pointed out that some measures have been taken in coordination with authorities to provide licenses for the purchase and construction of Ro-Ro ships by the private sector, and said: we hope that Iranian shipping companies operating in the Caspian Sea and other interested companies consider at least one Ro-Ro ship on their operational fleet.
